Crimson TNG

Crimson TNG: Best Valued 4 Rx / 4 Tx Software Defined Radio

Crimson TNG is a high-performance software defined radio (SDR) platform providing 4 receive and 4 transmit radio chains, 325 MHz of instantaneous RF bandwidth per channel, 16-bit converters, and a tuning range from near DC to 6 GHz.

Each radio chain can be independently controlled or configured to share a common local oscillator for applications requiring improved phase coherency and stability across channels. Dual 10GBASE-R interfaces provide up to 20 Gbps of digital backhaul for transferring high-bandwidth IQ data between the SDR and host system.

Crimson TNG combines RF, FPGA-based signal processing, timing, and high-speed digital interfaces in a compact 1U platform designed for applications including radar, spectrum monitoring, wideband RF recording and playback, GPS/GNSS, wireless communications, SIGINT, SATCOM, test and measurement, and other advanced RF systems.

Key Capabilities

325 MHz Instantaneous Bandwidth

Each receive and transmit radio chain supports up to 325 MHz of instantaneous RF bandwidth, enabling wideband signal capture, generation, monitoring, and processing across all four channels.

Phase-Coherent Operation

Radio chains can share a common local oscillator to improve channel-to-channel phase coherency and stability for applications including radar, direction finding, beamforming, and other coherent RF systems.

4 Rx / 4 Tx Radio Chains

Four receive and four transmit channels support multi-channel and full-duplex SDR applications. Radio chains can be independently tuned and controlled for applications requiring simultaneous operation across multiple frequencies.

20 Gbps Digital Backhaul

Dual 10GBASE-R interfaces provide up to 20 Gbps of aggregate digital throughput for transferring high-bandwidth IQ data between Crimson TNG and host processing or storage systems.

FPGA Signal Processing

The Intel Arria V ST SoC provides programmable FPGA resources and an integrated ARM processor for implementing custom DSP, filtering, triggering, signal processing, and other application-specific functionality directly on the SDR.

Integration & Customization

Crimson TNG can be integrated into new or existing RF systems with support for custom FPGA functionality, software, interfaces, filtering, timing, synchronization, and other application-specific requirements.

SDR Architecture

Crimson TNG integrates four receive and four transmit radio chains with FPGA-based signal processing, timing and synchronization, and high-speed digital interfaces in a single SDR platform.

RF signals are converted between the analog and digital domains using 16-bit data converters, with the Intel Arria V ST SoC providing programmable FPGA resources for digital signal processing and system control. Dual 10GBASE-R interfaces provide the high-speed data path between the SDR and external host, processing, or storage systems.
